Here's a couple of links to read through:

I'm still curious what card it is..does it say what it is on the cooler itself? Most vid cards do. But either rate, give that a go, like I said it's a shot in the dark, but hell at this point you got nothing more to lose with it. Cheers.
EDIT: Oh a 9800GX2, that's a dual GPU, dual PCB vid card. Those are known to run hot as hell. Doing the oven trick could be a royal pain in the ass. The cooler is a pain to take apart and the card itself is 2 cards made to work as one. The bulk of the cooler is actually in between the 2 cards. Having some extra thermal paste is a must though, but you should be able to get some for a few bucks that'll do just fine...make sure it's non-conductive though. So there's a secondary card that plugs into the primary card to run a sort of on card "SLI" without needing to do it on the motherboard. The first GTX295's were like that too. Here's some instructions to take it apart:

Or go ATI and get an HD5770. Runs DX11, uses less power, is very oc-able, and runs neck and neck with a GTX260.
Here's some prices from Newegg.ca:

Sure used is a risk, but for sure start with baking your GX2, if that don't work and ya still want to find a solution, I'll be more than happy to help on my end to find you something and get it heading your way for as cheap as possible. Cheers.
