Post Re: Video Card is done
No video at all, doesnt even show the bios post
My computer guy says its toast, its 8 months out of warranty
and its $600 to replace, unfortunetly not in budget for quite a while

What card is it? I know our markets are a tad different, but a $600 card down here is either a NV GTX295 or ATI HD5890, both are dual-GPU vid cards...lotta powa but run hot as hell and need a lotta powa from da socket. No video at all is a bad deal for sure. Ya might do the oven trick, take the cooler off, preheat the oven to like 400F, bake it for around 5-7 minutes, then let cool on counter, put the cooler back on and see if it works...sometimes cracks from in the thin solder for the sockets the GPU sit in or the voltage regulators that can sometimes be fixed by doing this. Hey if it's already toast, why not cook it some more? Make it extra crunchy. If you want to consider giving it a shot, I can get some more accurate instructions that have helped people revive dead vid cards (it does actually work for some).

I might be able to find a good used card for a decent price that could at least get ya gaming again without straining the budget too horridly. What resolution do you game at? Is this something that would interest ya if the price was right? Keep us posted man, I'd like to help ya out if I can..I'm broke as much as the next guy, but I can window shop used PC equipment like no tomorrow. :D

I'll trade you mine for a Gold Hockey Medal !

Hang tough man, we'll figure out something between us and get you back up and running. That's why we hang together. And you though it was to just make fun of you saying "EH" all the time. Hoser !
